Middle school age individuals face the difficult challenge of
being stuck between childhood and adolescence. It is a difficult
stage - even in normal circumstances. Other challenges that middle
schoolers sometimes face include: unhealthy influences in their
environment, depression, addiction, psychiatric illness,
co-existing disorders, harmful family dynamics and emotional
problems, especially those associated with puberty. These
challenges can result in acting-out behaviors in the home, school
or community.
Program Overview
The Brook at Dupont offers a highly structured, inpatient
program that utilizes a multidisciplinary team approach for
treating middle schoolers who are experiencing psychiatric
illnesses and/or emotional problems. Specific issues also include:
drug, alcohol, bullying, cyber-bullying, and exposure to
pornography and violence in media and video games. The inpatient
program is designed to provide middle schoolers with the highest
level of direct-patient care possible including: physical, social,
spiritual, medical and psychotherapeutic interventions and on-site
classrooms.
