The Brook Hospital KMI Celebrates Red Ribbon Week

The Brook KMI’s Adolescent population and Staff celebrated Red Ribbon Week October 22-30.  Red Ribbon week is a time for us as individuals to take a stand for the hopes and dreams of our children through a commitment to drug prevention and education and a personal commitment to live drug free lives.

During the week our staff took our adolescent patients to local alcohol and drug residential facilities to educate them on the difficulties of adults coping with drug and alcohol addiction.   Metro Louisville’s Police Department brought one of their canines out and provided us some education on how they help assist them in a search for illegal drugs.  The Kentucky State Police also brought out their Drug Education Trailer which showed them videos, pictures, statistics and an assimilation of a meth lab.  At the end of the week the adolescents had a symbolic balloon fly.  They filled out a card with a list of things they needed to let go of and attached to the balloon, said a prayer, and then released the balloons.

Overall it was an informative, successful celebration week for our adolescents and staff on making the personal commitment to live drug free lives.
